CHIVEON MURFREESBORO MEET & GREET, 9/13/2015

BOWLING WITH A PURPOSE, 10/2/2015

We had a great night of bowling, games and fun at Lanes, Trains & Automobiles on Friday 10/2/2015. We collect almost 350 canned goods and other non- perishable items to donate to Green House Ministry's food pantry located here in Murfreesboro. Two of our admins dropped off the donations and the staff there at the food pantry were happy to see what we were able to get donataed for them.

To kick off the ChiveOn Murfreesboro chapter, the admins hosted a meet and greet to get to know chapter members. The event was held at TGI Fridays in Murfreesboro from 3-6pm, right alongside football fans enjoying the first day of NFL games.  Prizes were raffled off to members throughout the event. Out of the 50 or so attendees, more than 30 signed up for the Walk to End Alzheimer's - Rutherford County.
Members in our chapter participated in a national event created by 2 members of the Nation of the Chive. The event spread like wildfire through Facebook posting and reposting, encouraging Chivers to go to local first responder stations and show their support. Several members and their kids stopped by local stations throughout the day, while a group of 14 members provided snacks and goodies to the night crew at 3 fire houses, 1 police station and 1 sherrif's office.

FEED AMERICA FIRST FOOD DISTRIBUTION, 10/07/2015

2015 WALK TO END ALZHEIMER'S - RUTHERFORD COUNTY - 10/24/2015

GREENHOUSE MINISTRIES MOBILE FOOD PANTRY, 10/17/2015

Two of our admins and a fellow member were able to get together to join a local volunteer group to help out at Feed America First in Murfreesboro. The event consisted of breaking down pallets of donated food, boxing up food items to go to clients as well as organizing any overstock to be distributed to other food donation centers. This particular group is able to attend the first Wedneday of every month through the beginning of the new year, we look forward to working with them as well as finding opportunities to bring a larger group of Chivers with us to volunteer.
Our group helped out with the mobile food pantry at Greenhouse Ministries Saturday morning.Volunteers helped with various tasks such as: set-up, unloading food, bagging food, walk with clients to help gather food, assist in carrying food to clients vehicles, and clean-up. It was a great turn out and experience, we were able to help families make sure they could feed themselves and their families.
Our group of 24 ChiveOn Murfreesboro members volunteered at the Walk to End Alzheimer's at the MTSU Soccer & Intramual fields Saturday morning. We broke off into small teams which allowed us to get to know each other better as well as provide support and encouragement for the walkers along the event route. Thanks to a couple of our members, high fives seemed to help a lot of the walkers on the last leg of the walk! We all enjoyed a great lunch at The Boulevard right after the event.

CHIVEON MURFREESBORO CUPID'S CARNIVAL, 11/15/2015

YOUTH VILLAGES HOLIDAY HEROES 2015, 12/4/201 5

VETERAN'S DAY DINNER, 11/11/2015

We had great success with our first fundraising event for the Cupid's Undie Run ChiveOn Murfreesboro team at Murfreesboro Strike & Spare on Sunday 11/15/15. The amazing manager for Strike & Spare allowed us to use the lower level bowling alley just for this event. We had kids games, face painting, unlimited bowling, a photo booth, two 50/50 contests  as well as a silent auction. We were able to raise more than $1,000 towards our team fund which benefits The Children's Tumor Foundation.
We had 13 members of our group, along with 2 additional friends, joined together to honor and celebrate what our country's Veterans have done for our nation. Among those 15 people, 6 of them were Veterans. We all enjoed what our local Olive Garden had to offer! We also signed thank you cards for the wait staff to hand our as a way to welcome them home and say thank you for what they have given this great nation.
ChiveOn Murfreesboro was lucky to have the ability to sponsor a 14 year old male that is currently under the care of Youth Villages, a nonprofit organization that helps emotionally and behaviorally troubled children and their families. Several memebers were able to come together on Friday 12/4 at the Walmart on Old Fort Pkwy to make one special kid's Christmas come true! Several items on his wish list included an MP3 player, Green Bay Packers gear and a wrestling belt - all of which were purchased.

YOUTH VILLAGES HOLIDAY WRAPPING PARTY, 12/12/2015

UGLY SWEATER CHRISTMAS PARTY AT BIG BANG 'BORO, 12/12/2015

CARE PACKAGES FOR OUR TROOPS, 12/5/2015

Saturday 12/5/2015 was a great day for several ChiveOn Murfreesboro members, gathering together with sevearl bags of goodies to send overseas to some of our nation's Soldiers. One of those Soldiers is one of our fellow Chivers! Giving them even 10 minutes of happiness while serving away from their families and in harm's way is why we Chive. We were able to gather enough snacks, toiletries, magazines and silly toys to fill 11 boxes. It will be a very Merry Christmas for them.
This was such a great get together! We wanted to make sure that we have fun while also remembering what being a Chiver is all about. The original group was to be about 15-20 but we definitely surpased that expectation and had standing room only for our group within minutes of the event starting. Big Bang Murfreesboro collected many donations for their Toys for Tots drive, several of which came from our group. They also provided prizes for us for our Ugly Sweater Christmas competition.
This was the second event to support our participation with Youth Villages' Holiday Heroes. We were able to wrap 2 facilities' donated gifts, which amounted to about 70 bags of toys/clothes/etc. It was a big job but we had fun and were able to work together great as a team to get it done!

CHIVEON MURFREESBORO'S FUEL CHALLENGE, 3/5/2016

14TH ANNUAL POLAR BEAR PLUNGE, 1/9/2016

2016 CUPID'S UNDIE RUN, 2/13/2016

The polar plunge was a great success! It was definitely cold, water temp was in the 40's and the sky was gloomy and grey. What better atmosphere to enjoy an icy plunge that is a bit of a tradition for locals. The cost to do the plunge was a nonperishable food donation, all items collected were donated to Greenhouse Ministries. In true Chive fashion, our members definitely brought items to donate. We had a bit of a last minute competition to reward our most enthiusasitc plunger - Eddie Wessel won that award with flying colors! He won a Keep Calm and Chive On car decal. I might add he is from Minnesota, so this was a piece of cake for him!
We definitely exceeded expectations with this event!!! We were able to donate 8.500 food items to a local FUEL program that is run by a few of our Chivers/Chivettes. They were overwhelmed with the outcome of the event. The food donations will make roughly 700 bags of food, which will allow 125 kids from local elementary and middle schools eat on the weekends through the end of the school year. We plan to exceed that number for the beginning of the school year and have plans to reach out to companies for donations for future food drives.
This was such a great event! Our team braved the streets of Nasvhille in 20 degree weather to raise awareness and monies for the Cupid's Undie Run, which benefits the Children's Tumor Foundation. The Nashville region raised over $150,000 with out 3 local Chive chapters raising $70,000 of that. Our first year, ChiveOn Murfreesboro raised $13,000!! Woohoo! Our team decided to dress up in super heroe/super villian costumes, please check out our photo gallery too see how awesome they turned out.

JEWELRY AND WINE FOR K9'S, 4/29/2016

ST PATRICK'S DAY & BIRTHDAY SHENANIGANS, 3/17/2016

COMMUNITY BACKPACK EVENT, 4/23/2016

What a great holiday to spend with friends and family, yes our Chive chapter is like a family to most of us! We were able to get a birthday cake for "all March babies" and sang karaoke until it was time to go home. This is always a fun time but was even more fun this year, we even had an Ohio chapter admin join us! Hi Doug!
We teamed up with Jennifer Shannon with Stella & Dot, a company that provides boutique-style jewelry and accessories. Jennifer was kind enough to donate 10% of sales to our Vests for K9's campaign which will provide protective vests for K9 officers for Rutherford County Sheriff's Office. This event is the first of several to fundraise money towards our goal. We raised around $100 through sales for this event; however, Jennifer decided to extend the event through the end of May. Please visit this link if you are interested in ordering:

This event was created to involve members of our chapter, their family members and members of the community to help those that could not provide for themselves. Candice wanted to be able to take backpacks, filled with donated items, and give them to those in our homeless community or children that wouldn't have school supplies for the start of the school year. Three families sponsored a case of backpacks each ($90/case) which gave our group a total of 72 backpacks to hand out to members to get filled. After the event, there were only 16 backpacks left to be picked up! That is truly amazing considering only about 30 people attended the event. The backpacks are due on May 7th, then an event will be planned to give the backpacks to those in need.

OCHARLEY'S DINNER W/ CHIVEONE MURFREESBORO, 06/21/2016

COM/THE BERRY CHIVETTE WEEKEND,
5/20/2016-5/22/2016

CHIVEON MURFREESBORO INVADES THE OCOEE,  6/18/2016

A huge shout out to the O'Charley's on Memorial Blvd in Murfreesboro!! They held a kick back night for us so that we could raise money for our group fund which allows us to have events and be able to support our community and those in it. They did a great job on keeping up with everyone and provided outstanding customer service. It was a good turnout for our first attempt at a kick back night and fun was definitely had! We ended up raising $100 which will help out with all kinds of things that groups need (i.e. business cards, deposits on venues and buying food/prizes for events).
What a great weekend! Friday night, we had a great turn out and had a lot of different kinds of pottery painted. Two of The TN Berry admins came and joined us for wine and laughs, as well as several new faces to our group. Saturday had scary rain concerns but for those that came, they loved the scavenger hunt. Sam and Carrie did an amazing job on that. And to wrap up the weekend, Sunday was a beautiful day at Arrington Vineyards. From crazy attendance raffles to hysterical wine tastings it really was a memorable end to such a great weekend. Please check out the pics in our photo gallery!
Our Chivers had so much fun on this trip!!! Please check out the amazing pictures that were taken that day!

FIRST ANNUAL FAMILY FUN DAY, 6/26/2016

KEEP CALM & COVER OUR K9's:KCCOK9's, 7/16/2016

1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY:  LET'S GET WEIRD  & POOL PARTY WITH A PURPOSE, 8/19 &  8/21/2016

We had such a great turn out for this event! So many new faces and a lot of our great members that are "regulars" at our events. The heat was pretty rough but we maintained a great attitude and toughed it out. There were a lot of Chivelings that got to play together, draw with chalk and eat yummy watermelon. Thank you to Kona Ice for coming out and providing us with delicious sweet treats and shaved ice :)
This was a 2 part event so that we could give our members the chance to let loose and have some fun AND to give our members a family day. We love doing both! These were both great events that helped our members and admins celebrate our 1 year anniversay of being a Chive Nation chapter. We look forward to the next year, can't wait to see what it has in store for us!
All I can say is WOW! This event couldn't have turned out any better, there were so many new faces that joined us to support such a great cause. We had an exciting cornhole tourney even with the 95+ degree weather and a great silent auction that filled several tables. We walked in with just under $700 in online donations and finished out the evening with right around $2600! Gotta get the police dogs their protective vests!

VETERAN'S DAY DINNER & SHENANIGANS 11/11/16

RUTHERFORD COUNTY - WALK TO
END ALZHEIMER'S  - 10/29/16

9/11 RAKATHON,  9/11/2016

The Chive as a whole is known for the never-ending support for the military, so of course the local chapters feel the same way. This was our second year for this event and it was AMAZING. We had such a great turn out - double the amount of members participating - even folks coming from Nashville to partake. Oliver Garden yet again exceeded our expectations when dealing with our group, it is not the easiest task! God Bless America
Round two of such a great community event, Walk to End Alzheimer's which raises money and awareness for the American Alzheimer's Association. We had a small group that showed up at the wee hours of the morning to help setup the event and stuck around to provide assistance through the remainder of the event.

MAYDAY BREWERY UGLY SWEATER
CHRISTMAS PARTY - 12/17/16

12 DAYS OF GIVING - FUEL FOOD DRIVE - 12/17/16

YOUTH VILLAGES HOLIDAY HEROES - 12/4 & 12/10-16

When is it ever a bad idea to jump on ugly sweater Christmas tree bandwagon ESPECIALLY when it's at one of our favorite local breweries?! We love just being together as a group and seeing who the most creative of us wins the prize. This year Scott Carpentier won the "Ugliest Sweater Contest' with his homemade sweater. We decided to hit the Boro Square afterwards and had a great time dancing the night away.
One of our members from the start of the group wanted to do soemthing amazing for our community, so she put together a food drive for our local FUEL program. The FUEL program provides food for the weekends for the kiddos who might not be able to eat on the weekends. She decdied to give us encouraging daily mottos for the 12 Days of Giving event, thanks Becca!
ChiveOn Murfreesboro was lucky (yet again) to have the ability to sponsor a 15 year old female that is currently under the care of Youth Villages, a nonprofit organization that helps emotionally and behaviorally troubled children and their families. Several memebers were able to come together on Sunday 12/4 at the Walmart on Old Fort Pkwy to make one special kid's Christmas come true! Several items on her wish list included clothes, ear gauges, Pittsburg Steelers gear and anything we could find relating to Nirvana. There was also a 2nd round of gift wrapping that took place on Saturday 12/10.

15TH ANNUAL POLAR PLUNGE, 1/7/17

So much colder this year than last year - 15 degrees!!! BRRRRRR
There were several new folks that showed up this year & they had a blast. As always, our community Canadian loved the water so much he went for another dip down the slide. I love that we have members that definiely do not want to plunge that will show up in the freezing cold just to hold towels and show support. Big shout out to those guys!
